St. Johns Residence, Portland
This multi-room residential cabinetry project in the St. Johns neighborhood of Portland was designed by MURJ Design and fabricated and installed by Rip City Craftsman. The scope consists of custom millwork spanning the dining area, wine bar, basement home office, and laundry room.
The built-in dining bench is constructed from alder veneer plywood with a Rubio Monocoat “Pure” finish, selected to match the tone of the existing hardwood flooring. The integrated drawer units feature painted maple fronts that complement the color palette of the room. The drawers operate on Blum Movento drawer guides. Inside the drawer, a Blade Duo Docking Drawer outlet is integrated to hide power cords for device charging.
The custom alder wood wine bar incorporates specialized storage components, including alder wine racks mounted on sidemount drawer guides, matching alder trays, and a pullout stemware rack for glassware.
In the basement home office, the layout features a floating desk paired with custom walnut floating shelves and a slatted wood partition wall that functions as a room divider. To meet weight requirements, the shelves utilize heavy-duty Sheppard floating shelf brackets recessed into the woodwork. Each shelf was templated and scribed directly to the walls to ensure a precise fit against the drywall surfaces.
The installation is completed by a laundry room configuration outfitted with custom utility cabinetry and countertops.
This project represents the residential fabrication and installation services provided to design firms and homeowners throughout the Portland Metro area, including Beaverton, Lake Oswego, and West Linn.
