About Rip City Craftsman
Rip City Craftsman is a Portland-based custom woodworking company specializing in architectural woodwork, custom cabinetry, built-ins, and furniture for residential and select commercial spaces. I'm David Wourms, owner and craftsman. My 10 years of experience include commercial millwork estimating, residential construction, and leading installation for high-end architectural woodworking projects. That background gives me a practical understanding of how design, fabrication, installation, and the larger construction process fit together. I remain directly involved from the first conversation through final installation, providing continuity, clear communication, and the flexibility to adapt as each project develops.
Why work with
Rip City Craftsman?
Work Directly With the Owner
From the first conversation through design, fabrication, and installation, you work directly with the person responsible for your project. That continuity helps carry the decisions made early in the process through to the finished work.
Clear, Direct Communication
With fewer layers between you and the person doing the work, questions reach the right person quickly, decisions are easier to make, and important details are less likely to get lost along the way.
A Truly Collaborative Approach
Rather than steering every project toward a standard system or design language, I develop each solution around your priorities, aesthetic, and space. This flexibility also makes Rip City Craftsman a strong partner for architects and designers whose ideas need to be developed and executed without losing what makes them distinctive.
Able to Pivot Quickly
Custom projects evolve. As a small, hands-on company, Rip City Craftsman can respond quickly when site conditions, schedules, materials, priorities, or design decisions change - without the organizational layers that can make larger companies slower to change course.
